How the work is made

Last updated July 2026

Every piece follows the same method. It is written down here so a reader can judge the work by it.

Mechanism, no verdict

Each piece describes how something works and stops there. Where practitioners genuinely disagree, the competing readings are set side by side rather than resolved into one verdict. The judgement stays with the reader; the job is to hand over the machinery clearly enough that the reader can form their own.

Every figure sourced

Each figure traces to one primary source, linked so a reader can open it and check. Regulators, central banks, exchanges, official records, company filings: the original, not a secondhand summary. Where a figure has no citable source, it is left out, or marked approximate with the limitation stated. Nothing is fabricated, interpolated, or back-calculated to fill a gap.

Written from practice

The reading is written from inside the subject rather than from a feed, often from a vantage where the same thing looks different depending on which side you stand on. The aim is not to be first with a number, but to be right about how the number should be read.

Corrected in place

Reference pages are living documents: when a rule or figure changes, the page is corrected in place and its date updated. A piece tied to an event carries a dated note when a material error is fixed. The record of what changed stays visible.
